L-1 visas for employees with “specialized knowledge”

Though executives and managers are specifically named as eligible applicants for the L-1 visa, the language the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) also permits any employee who possesses “specialized knowledge” to apply for this visa status. That being said, employees with special knowledge in any of the following areas of a qualifying organization may be eligible for an L-1 visa:

  • Services
  • Research
  • Management
  • Research
  • Products

However, it should be noted that employees with specialized knowledge of virtually any of the foreign company’s interests as applied in the international marketplace are likely to be eligible for the L-1 visa status. In every case, employees with a qualifying specialized knowledge will still need to meet all other eligibility requirements set by the USCIS for this visa.

If you would like to learn more about applying for an L-1 visa as employee with “specialized knowledge,” you should speak with an immigration lawyer at AmLaw Group about what the USCIS will ask of you in your application. To discuss the particulars of your circumstances with an immigration attorney, please call our offices at (786) 876-9919 today.
