Indian companies to pay up to $4.5K for H1B and L1 US visas
Under a new bill, Indian companies that are planning to make investments in the U.S. through popular visas like the H1B and L1 are expected to pay a fee of not more than $4,500, an article of The Hindu reported on December 17.
The new congressional bill that was passed on December 16 will reportedly affect foreign companies specializing in the Information Technology (IT) industries, and it is expected to impact mainly Indian companies. Foreign companies applying for H1B visas are expected to pay $4,000 while those applying for L1 visas are expected to pay $4,500. Only those companies with a minimum of 50 employees will be affected by the special fees.
The new fee for H1B and L1 visas was decided on after Congress came to an agreement on a $1.1 trillion spending bill. The increase in visa application fees is expected to be used in financing IT-related companies and the medical needs of 9/11 first responders.
