Mayor of Dallas urges Congress to extend EB-5 visa program
As the EB-5 Immigration Visa program is set to expire this September, a group of mayors in the U.S. is urging Congress to extend and amend the program, an article of Inside Sources reported on July 1.
In the recent U.S. Conference of Mayors, EB-5 visas were lauded as an important source of funds for redeveloping cities and creating jobs. Mayors are reportedly working with the private sector to utilize the visa program for urban development and other projects. The visa allows foreign nationals to come to the United States if they can offer at least $500,000 in business investments for the country. Mayor Mike Rawlings claims that in Dallas alone the EB-5 visa program has funded hotels, apartments, restaurants, and office buildings worth $500 million. Rawlings is one of the mayors who supported the reauthorization and expansion of the EB-5 visa.
