Specialized workers and green cards

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) may allow foreign nationals to secure permanent residency in the United States if they are employed in a position considered by the government to fall into one of several “special job categories.” Some of those jobs or fields of employment are:

  • Broadcaster
  • Member of the Armed Forces
  • Individuals who can translate Afghan or Iraqi language
  • Individuals working for International Organizations
  • Iraqi or Afghan nationals who have assisted the U.S. Government
  • Religious Worker
  • Panama Canal Employee
  • Physician National Interest Waiver
  • NATO-6 Nonimmigrant

Individuals who are employed in any of these positions should be aware that they will also be expected to meet a number of strict requirements in order to be approved for a green card. At the AmLaw Group, our legal team of immigration attorneys has a firm understanding of the complex and intricate process of becoming an American citizen.
